Starting Pitchers Can Help Make Dodgers-Braves Go Under High Total
Both teams are coming off tough losses, the Marlins defeat the Dodgers 13-7 in Miami while the Braves dropped their show finale against the Mets 10-8. The Dodgers have a comfy 19-game lead across the Diamondbacks in the National League West and the Braves lead the Nationals by 5.5 games in the National League East.
Kenta Maeda (8-8, 4.12 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) vs. Mike Soroka (10-2, 2.32 ERA, 1.08 WHIP)
Kenta Maeda had dropped his last six decisions and he bounced back from two poor excursions by throwing seven scoreless innings of both three-hit ball with six strikeouts and no walks in a 4-0 win against the Diamondbacks past Saturday. The right-hander remains just 1-2 with a 5.57 ERA along with a 1.24 WHIP in his final six appearances (five starts) and he’s 2-5 with a 5.66 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 12 road starts.
Mike Soroka is winless since July 14 however he dominated that the Marlins last Saturday, pitching seven scoreless innings of both three-hit ball six strikeouts against a walk to get a no-decision at a 7-6 win. The 22-year-old is 0-1 with a 2.56 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP in his final five starts and 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP in eight house begins. This is Soroka’s first career start against the Dodgers.
